Christmas Mini Album

This mini album is a really great xmas decoration gift for anyone. They can fill it up with xmas pictures then set it on a table or something similar to show off those pictures. The inside accoradian allows the album to sit up when opened. The album itself is also very quick to put together. The embellishments is what takes a little bit of time and personalization. Have fun with this one!!

Supplies

1 - 12x12 pattern cardstock
5 - 8 1/2x11 colored cardstock (2 sheets in 1 color, and 2 other colors,
ie. 2 green, 1 burgandy, 2 grey)
1 - piece of grosgrain ribbon of your choice to go around the entire outside of
the book and tie it closed with
- Any embellishments which you desire

Instructions

Cover:

1. Cut the 12"x12" sheet at 12"x6" and 6"x6"
2. Score the 12"x6" at 5.5",6", and 11.5". Score one of the 6"x6" sheets at 5.5"
3. Fold the pieces on each score line. Adhere the cover together overlapping at
the 1/2" fold on each piece.

Inside Accordian:

1. The accordian is made with 2 sheets of 8 1/2"x11". Cut one sheet 10.5"x6". Score that sheet at 5" and 10".
2. Cut the 2nd sheet at 10"x6". Score at 5".
3. Fold each piece and adhere the 2 pieces together over the 1/2" fold.
4. Adhere the accordian to the center of the inside of the book.
5. The extra 8.5"x11" sheets are used as mats in the album. Cut sheets at 4"x5". You will need 4 mats of one color and 5 mats of another color. Adhere one mat to each Square of the inside accordian and inside cover
6. Embellish your album as desired.

Christmas Cards

Here are some pictures of the Christmas cards I made for this christmas. I'm not going to post any instructions for these. They're just to give you an idea for your own. I will point out though, the middle card I used my stampin up watercolor pencils and stampin up blender pens to color in the stamp. The last card (noel, noel) I used the heat embossing technique on the snowflake stamp in the middle and for the two squares matted under the snowflake I cut out the squares using my paper cutter then I tore the edges. I tore the edges by hand but stampin up does have a tool to use for that called the tearing edge which is really handy to use as well.

If have any questions about them just leave a comment on here!!

Merry Christmas to All

Background Stamping

Directions:

1) Place the background stamp face up on your stamping surface.

2) Ink the stamp completely by tapping the ink pad on the rubber.

3) Place the card stock on the inked stamp.

4) If the card stock is smaller than the stamp, cover it with a piece of scratch paper.

5) Rub the card stock with smooth, firm strokes, making sure to rub all areas of the stamp and to keep the card stock from sliding.

6) Remove the scratch paper and carefully lift the card stock off the stamp.

Tips:

1) For a more subtle background, try the repetitive stamping technique and stamp off once prior to stamping.

2) Another technique for subtle backgrounds is to ink a sponge and dab it on the background stamp.

3) Create a multicoloured background by applying two or more inks to the background stamp.

Heat Embossing

This is one of my FAVORITE techniques to use. It gives your stamped area a very distinct look and it is so EASY!!! Try it out and leave me a comment to let me know what YOU think!!

Technique A: Heat Embossing

1. Place your card stock in a Powder Pal tray or over a large piece of scratch paper.
2. Rub the Embossing Buddy across the card stock you want to emboss. This keeps the embossing powder from sticking anywhere but on the ink.
3. Stamp the image with Craft, VersaMark®, or embossing ink.
4. Pour powder onto the inked image, making sure that the image is coated completely.
5. Shake off excess powder into the tray, and funnel it back into the container.
6. Heat the stamped image only until the powder changes to a shiny liquid and rises.
7. Allow embossed image to cool.

Technique B: Emboss Resist

1. Follow steps 1-7 above, using Stampin' Emboss clear embossing powder.
2. Apply ink with a sponge directly to the paper over and around the embossed image.
3. Wipe the embossed image with a tissue to remove the excess ink.

QUICK TIP

Avoid overheating the powder and burning the paper when working with a heat tool.

Using Stampin Up Markers

I thought this was a really neat point to know!!!!

Using Markers

Technique A: Multiple Colours

Use a marker to apply ink only to the desired parts of the image on your stamp.
Add other colours if desired.
Breathe on the inked image to remoisten the ink before stamping onto paper.

Technique B: Omitting

To omit a certain part of a stamp image, use a marker to apply ink only to the desired parts of the image.
Breathe on the inked image to remoisten the ink before stamping onto paper.

QUICK TIP
Use a Stamp-a-ma-jig® stamp positioner if you want to perfectly align the overlay image.

Mini Maze Album

Ok everyone here is my first idea post. This is the mini maze album and a very very easy project to make. The one I have in the pictures is a halloween one but you can make one for any occasion or whatever you see fit.

Supplies needed:
4- 4" coasters
1- 12"x12" cardstock (your choice of color)
2- 5" squares of pattern cardstock of your choice
Whatever embleshments you desire
Mod Podge
Glue (Stampin Ups Tombow multi purpose adhesive is my favorite glue for this but whichever type of adhesive you have on hand will work also)
1 - 14" length of Stampin Up 1/4" grosgrain ribbon or any ribbon of your choice

Instructions:

1. First mod podge 2 of the 4 coasters together. Do the same the remainder 2 coasters. This then leaves you with 2 coasters. One for the cover and one for the back.

2. Then glue each of your pattern squares to one side of each coaster. You will be left with about an inch of hangover around all edges of the coaster which you will fold over to the inside of the coaster (Stampin Ups bone folder makes this simple) and glue. It works great to cut a bit of each corner out so that the paper will fold over easier.

3. Next measure and mark the backs of your two coasters at 2" then set the two coasters together and draw a straight line across them. Then set your coasters an inch a apart from each other, put glue along the pencil line you drew and glue your ribbon along that line (Remembering to keep your coasters about an inch apart from each other) Then set your cover and back aside for the moment

4. Now for the maze insert. Take your 12"x12" cardstock and cut it in 3 strips of 3.75" in width. Then score all of those strips at 4" from each end so you end up with 3 squares. Fold the scores like an accordian.

5. Now glue the three accordian style strips together by overlapping the end and beginning squares of each strip to get one long accordian style strip

6. Now glue the accordian strip to the cover and back. Now you have your mini maze album. Embellish the inside as you see fit.

7. I also added a strip of twill tape for the binding on my book but I've seen many without the binding as well.

If anyone needs any of the supplies for this project I can order everything including the coasters just leave a comment on here and I can get it!!

If you have any questions or concerns about putting this project together please leave your comment here and I'd be more than happy to answer it!!
